Adult Sunday School Classes
Contemporary Christianity Class
This group is comprised of adults of varied religious and professional backgrounds, ages, and marital status. The class has lively discussions on books, theological topics, and current issues of the day. Ralf Henkel serves as their teacher. The CCC has partnered with the youth group to host activities and fundraisers for them.
Led each week by John Rasche, the Latecomers are comprised of members mostly in their 60’s & 70’s. They are essentially a Bible study group and relate its teachings to everyday life. They also have studies of other religions and philosophies to compare their teachings to that of Christianity. In addition, the class will often do a book study for several weeks.
The Covenant Class is an open discussion group for adults ages 40 and up. Led by their teacher Dick Dechert (and various other class members at times), the class has studied several books of the Bible as well as studying different books. Through Bible study and open sharing among the class members, they try to grow stronger spiritually and to recognize how they are expected to best serve Christ in their lives. This is a fun-loving group and they also enjoy annual events outside of class such as Vespers and a May brunch.
This class is for adults of all ages who want to apply their United Methodist beliefs to current faith issues and world events. Discussions weave in scripture, Biblical thought, theological discussions, and personal reflections. The discussion is led each week by Bill Horton.
Our Seekers class formed in the Spring of 2008. The class enjoys getting to know one another and is comprised of both single and married and some with children. They share the leadership and regularly use DVD’s to “bring the message” with a lively discussion that follows.
